My wife and I had the pleasure of working with the Goddard’s to purchase our first home. They’re amazing people, and we decided to work with many of the people they recommended. It was nice to have a home inspector and lawyer who were familiar with our real estate agents. Having a winning team of people that have worked together can sometimes mean the difference between getting a deal done or not. I felt that at anytime (day or night or weekend) we could get a hold of the Goddard’s. We also knew that the Goddard’s kept in close contact with our home inspector and lawyers. Nothing beats a successful team of professionals that are familiar with each other. Things moved along nicely and communication between them made things run as quickly and smoothly as possible. We felt very comfortable and confident with our realtors, inspector, and lawyers.

One area in which we chose to use our own professional was the mortgage lender. We received our pre-approval from a loan officer at one of the big three banks, and we kept in touch as we put submitted offers on different properties. A few offers were accepted, and we decided on a foreclosed property in Streamwood. As we thought how exciting it would be to work toward closing, we found out that our pre-approval was worthless. We quickly scrambled to find help at the last minute, and we contacted the mortgage broker that the Goddard’s had recommended. All of the financials needed to be started from the beginning again, and we were now short on time. We needed to get caught up to where we had thought we were with our original lender.

Once things were moving again, we wished we had decided to work with ALL of the recommended professionals from the start of the whole process. The Goddard’s made us feel much better, and they explained that this happens quite a bit. Therefore, I wanted to write this brief note to explain to others our personal experience. Working with the entire team of professionals might seem like you are putting your eggs in one basket at first; however, these are all independent people that have worked well together in the past. They are familiar with each other, and they do phenomenal work together. We closed on our house in early October 2009, and we really enjoy our new home. We consider the Goddard’s good friends, and we are truly thankful for their knowledge, hard work, and recommended professionals.
